Hometown America

Avon is a popular destination for home buyers in the Indianapolis area. Homes in Avon range in price to accomodate the first time home buyer along with executive homes, empty nesters and young professionals. Avon offers diverse living accomodations to fit your lifestyle.

Since it was incorporated in 1995, Avon Indiana has been building its community with the sense of Hometown, America.  The City officials have taken strides in the planning process to make sure the community functions and grows effectively.  It seems to be working, too.  The 2000 Census resulted in a population of 6,248 and the population projected for the 2010 census is 12,000 within the corporate limits and the estimated population for the Greater Avon area is 45,000.  The median age of the residents is in the early 30’s and the average household income is near $80,000.

Avon Schools

The backbone of most communities is the public school system.  Avon Indiana is no different.  The area is serviced by Avon Community School Corporation, which has been honored by the State of Indiana with a “Four Star” rating.  This rating was a result of the district earning a top 25 percent ranking amongst all Indiana schools based on the results of statewide standardized testing scores.  The young people in the community are served by six elementary schools for grades K - 4, two intermediate schools for grades 5 – 6, two middle schools for grades 7 – 8, and a high school for grades 9 – 12.  Avon High School is home to an award winning student produced newspaper and the Avon Marching Black and Gold, winner of numerous State and National championships.

Shopping,Dining and Parks

There is an array of shopping and dining available, including national chains alongside local flair.  Being the only Tree City USA community in the County, Avon Indiana has invested in maintaining the natural beauty of the area.  Part of this effort is displayed in the 84 acre Avon Town Hall Park, inaugurated in 2002.  This park offers visitors numerous amenities to enjoy, including an 18 hole disc golf course, walking trails, playgrounds, shelters that may be rented, free Wi-Fi service and fishing.
