Best Local Brunch Spots

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or so they say. And they (whoever they are) happen to be right. However, in our fast-paced world, all too often we find ourselves too busy to sit down for a well-balanced, healthy breakfast to start our day. Oftentimes, we're lucky if we can grab a breakfast bar (or, in some cases, a candy bar) as we run out the door.

With so many amazing local brunch spots in Indy, it makes it that much easier to make eating breakfast a priority. But before we dive into some of our favorite brunch restaurants, let's take a step back and look at why eating breakfast is such a big deal.

Why is eating breakfast so important, anyway?

Eating breakfast revs up your metabolism. When your body receives food in the morning, it tells your brain you're going to need to start working to digest it. This "waks up" the system so that it's ready go throughout the day. If you don't eat breakfast, your body assumes that it needs to conserve energy since it's not going to get any more through nutrition. This slows your metabolism down, which results in a decrease in the amount of calories you burn throughout the day.

Eating breakfast also keeps you from binging. If you don't give yourself food in the morning, you'll likely choose something high in fat and calories to satisfy your food cravings because you feel so ravenous.  And another fun perk is that eating breakfast puts you in a good mood. (It's true!) Your body won't think it's starving, so it's easier to get and stay in a positive mental state. A healthy meal in the morning can also help regulate your blood sugar levels through lunch time, which equally plays a vital role in your mood.

Now that we've established how important breakfast is, we have some recommendations of local places you need to hit up to start your day out right.
