CHATHAM-ARCH HISTORIC DISTRICT
Indianapolis, Indiana
In 1836 John Woods, Sr. platted a portion of downtown Indianapolis and dubbed it “Chatham”, also naming Chatham Street (later known as Park Ave.). In the 1860’s another area land owner gave name to Arch Street. In the 1970’s, neighborhood advocates combined the two names and designated this area “Chatham-Arch”.
You will find this area of downtown has an atmosphere as interesting as its name.
