By the 1880s, the close-knit village of 300 supported a general store, post office, livery stables, school and the Sugar Grove Methodist Mission. The population has expanded to over 16,000 and the community now offers bike trails, parks, schools, grocery stores, restaurants and churches. In 1891, the Indiana State Fairgrounds moved to its present location at Maple Road (now 38th Street), which is a wonderful perk of living in the area. In addition to the first-rate Indiana State Fair, the fairgrounds are home to more than 300 unique events every year. From horse shows to music concerts, 250 acres and 17 buildings host events to suit everyone!   

Another amenity close to Mapleton-Fall Creek is the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. Situated directly on the western border of Meridian Street, the museum maintains the largest collection of any youth museum in the world. The 472,900-square-foot facility houses 11 major galleries and sits on 20 acres. The museum presents hundreds of programs and activities annually and has been enriching the lives of families and children since 1925.
