Pike Township is a growing and progressive Township The governing body for the Township consists of a Trustee and Board, that has successfully worked to bring a mix of business to the area. There is an array of shopping, dining and entertainment establishments throughout the Township along with a few light industrial enterprises. Although benefiting from these business areas with quick and easy access, Traders Point Indiana is almost exclusively residential and the community is striving to remain this way.
Traders Point Indiana is filled with rich history and the residents strive to preserve and extend that history. The area was originally a trading post along one of the first state highways through Indiana, Lafayette Road, and became a small town. As time passed the area continued to draw the financial and business leaders of the area, even through the Great Depression. Many came to the area for recreational purposes, like hunting cabins or lodges, but many others came and established their homes. Several of these homes still exist in good condition.
