A Community of Values
It's important to note that Plainfield's town slogan is "A Community of Values", and it's something the residents take seriously. Twelve values were identified by the town, and a Community Values Program was established to recognize one citizen each month that exemplifies that month's value. That tradition continues to this day.
Like the City itself, the Plainfield Community School Corporation is built on a series of community values. Each month is assigned a value and the school district spends the entire month working with the students to instill that value. The school system supports its students through four elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. They are consistently ranked as “Four Star” schools by the Indiana Department of Education. Additionally, the school system has been nationally recognized for excellence.
Parks, Greenways and Fun
Open, green spaces in which the community can gather is very important to the residents of Plainfield. The Comprehensive Greenway Master Plan is a linear park system that extends down White Lick Creek and links together several parks and neighborhoods.
There are a variety of recreational and entertainment venues available to residents and visitors. The city boasts more than 460 acres of property dedicated to parks and recreation facilities, distributed throughout five different parks. The Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center is home to the Splash Island Family Waterpark, which offers a variety of water slides and play areas for all ages, a winding river, and plenty of sun bathing areas. In addition to the municipal attractions, Chateau Thomas Winery is located within the city and offers a “Music on the Veranda” program on Friday evenings.

Plainfield is home to a number of manufacturing and distribution enterprises. In addition, there is a strong hospitality industry with a number of hotels and restaurants to support the businesses and enhance the proximity to the airport.
